Avid Bioservices® has significant experience in the development of manufacturing processes for mammalian cell products. A range of cell types (e.g. CHO, NS0, hybridomas, and various mouse myeloma and human Cell Lines) have been used to produce monoclonal antibodies and other proteins using a variety of expression systems. Process development is tailored to the individual project using customer provided Cell Lines.

Typical studies at this stage would include screening cell culture medium, definition of routine culture procedures including feeding strategies, cell line stability studies, laboratory bioreactor studies and pilot plant fermentations up to 100-liter scale. These pilot plant bioreactors provide a useful source of product for pre-clinical studies.
Avid Bioservices has many contacts and sources involved in cell culture media development and optimization and will assist customers in this screening and selection process. Each medium formulation has appropriate documentation and includes a statement on source of origin of each of the raw materials.
At Avid Bioservices, we understand that the amount of antibody produced in any in vitro method depends upon the cell line's growth and expression levels. When your anticipated need is greater than 1.0 gram of antibody, we recommend the use of pilot studies first in shake flasks followed by confirmation in our 5L benchtop bioreactor to establish growth and expression levels for your specific cell line.
